Wart Hogs real-life "Pumbaa" in the Ngorongoro Crater, Tanzania

15 views Jan 2, 2024

A family of wart hogs forage in the Ngorongoro Crater, Tanzania. Wart Hogs were actually nick-named "Pumbaa" or "stupid or foolish" by Swahili-speakers in Africa long before the name was popularized in the Disney Movie "The Lion King". Warthogs are said to be called "Pumbaa" due to their propensity to rummage through villages - leaving a mess - prompting villagers to run after they shouting "Pumbaa!" or "stupid!" etc. as they chase them away.
